Dark Skies: UFO Movie Club Video Review

Spread the love

This episode of UFO Movie Club looks at director Scott Stewart’s 2013 horror-sci-fi movie Dark Skies. Fans of moody haunted house movies like The Conjuring and Paranormal Activity will feel right at home with Stewart’s tense supernatural thriller.

Dark Skies examination of alien abduction mythology sets it apart from most supernatural thrillers. Dark Skies goes all-in on alien abduction lore, spinning the controversial phenomena into a hair-raising horror flick.

Whereas this subject is ripe for overeager actors to ham it up (ala Christopher Walken’s legendary performance in Communion), Keri Russell, Josh Hamilton, and J.K. Simmons elevate the material by playing it straight.

You don’t have to believe in UFOs to fall victim to Dark Skies’ chilling spell. But people who’ve gone down ufology rabbit holes will appreciate the movie’s take on alien abduction lore.
