Writer-director Nia DaCosta teams up with writer-producer Jordan Peele to deliver a gripping horror thriller and hard-hitting social commentary.

Candyman’s knockout cast features Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Watchmen, Aquaman), Teyonah Parris (WandaVision, Dear White People), Colman Domingo (If Beale Street Could Talk, Zola), and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett (Misfits, Four Weddings and a Funeral).

Dope Black Movies: Candyman

Candyman synopsis:

A long-awaited follow-up to the 1992 horror classic that returns to the now-gentrified Cabrini Green neighbourhood where the legend began. This spiritual successor follows an up-and-coming artist named Anthony McCoy (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) desperate to make a name for himself in the Chicago art scene.

Anthony finds new inspiration after crossing paths with a former Cabrini Green projects resident who tells him about the Candyman. Anthony begins incorporating elements of the Candyman legend into his art, unwittingly opening a door for the vengeful spirit to return and wreak havoc on the community.
